I am excited to be a part of the team here at the Wallaceburg Wellness Centre!  I have been interested in health as long as I can remember.  My childhood interest was encouraged by my friends and family, and I formally began my journey with massage therapy at Lambton College in 2012.  I have been practicing as an RMT since 2014.

My style of massage is a therapeutic version of relaxational massage.  Most of the treatment is usually direct skin to skin contact, using oil and kneading to release built up tension in the muscles.  I like to use enough pressure to fully engage the muscles, without using so much pressure that the process becomes intolerable. (I always welcome feedback from my patients to help guide the amount of pressure I use.)

Hydrotherapy: While I do not offer hot stone massage treatments or body wraps, I do occasionally incorporate some element of hydrotherapy into my treatment. Massage treatments may be paired with an infrared sauna treatment or a soak in our tub, or a warmed rice bag may be used throughout the treatment.

Other tools in my toolbox: I optimize the therapeutic aspect my treatments by using a number of other massage techniques including contract-relax techniques (combined with breathing exercises), passive-relaxed ROM and/or positional release techniques, passive-relaxed tractioning, trigger point therapy, and fascial release therapy.

I work with each client in order to provide the most effective treatment, and customize each treatment to the needs of that particular client.  My treatment includes, as needed, a consultation, an assessment, manual therapy, and self-care homework for my clients.  I welcome feed-back from my clients at any time in order to better meet their needs.

I find it very rewarding to be able to help others, and am thrilled that my job enables me to assist others in living a fuller, more vibrant life!

I look forward to getting to know all of you, and am pleased that I can be a part of your health journey.

Laura Langstaff, RMT.
