What do we get when to take a restless RMT/yogini ... who loves to problem-solve dysfunctional movement of the human body ... then add 5+ years of advanced studies in anatomy, mechanics, physiology and the physics of human kinetics?
We get "my next chapter." I am so happy to finally announce my successful completion of the outstanding Osteopathic Manual Therapy program from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, ON. This 4200 hour program exceeds the WHO benchmark for osteopathic education around the world and is considered one of the best in the business.
I have loved being an RMT and this year marks my 20th anniversary as a therapist. I have also known there will always be more to learn about how the body functions, and how good mechanics makes for good health. Many other practices and certifications have put me onto the path of Osteopathy including yoga, TRX and functional fitness training and NeuroKinetic Therapy. So here we are, ready to finally put it all together.
I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to attend this program, but I could not
have had this adventure without so many incredibly supportive people.
The Wellness Team at the WWC. What an incredible group of people! My amazing staff made it possible for me to split my time between managing my practice, and getting to back and forth to school, which usually meant being out for town every other week. They took on many of my admin to-dos and knocked it our of the park. The Centre has never been so organized. Thank you to all, Jo Ann, Liz, Tara, Amanda, Stephanie, Jessi B and Ren. Our group of professionals at the Wellness Centre who truly inspire me to stay curious and ask "how do we make things better." Thank you for cheering me on - Maritza, Hillary, Ashley, Rachel, Reese, Renjit, Brandon and Laura.
To all my clients and customers, THANK-YOU for putting up with my regular lectures about your posture, my latest anatomy epiphany, questioning your stretching habits, or regularly needing to reschedule your appointments (sometimes more than once.) To my amazing volunteer bodies who trusted me with their bodies for over 5 years of twisting, bending, stretching and realigning... You are some brave people! Thank you for your time and trust.
But of course, the biggest thank-you goes out to my family. They are the most generous and supportive people. (Sniff Sniff) They made themselves available, and blended our family time around my school time. And since family time is one of those things we can't make more of ... I owe these folks BIG!
To my kids, Ren and Jess. You two constantly inspire me with your intellect and persistence to become your authentic selves. I will try to keep up with you both. Thank you for helping me with all the chaos school brought to our lives over the last 5 years. Now its your turn ... GO BLOOM.
To my immensely patient husband Mike. You are just the Best! First you built us a Wellness Centre, then you gave me your blessing to head off to school. Wow! just ... WOW! Thank you for making space for me to explore, then always having a soft spot for me to land when I came home. I will forever be grateful for your generosity in sharing our time and space with the constant upheaval of school life. I cannot wait to show you what an amazing gift this has been.
