Acupuncture/Dry Needling with Nicolette Neuford, RMT, MO

Nicolette has been providing Acupuncture for over 20 years. She can provide body or auricular (ear) needling along with the massage.

Acupuncturists can do dry needling which is a technique called stab the dragon but dry needling clinicians do not provide the Chinese acupuncture knowledge along with it. Nicolette can provide either treatment. Both techniques involve the use of thin needles.

Treatments using acupuncture consider whole body wellness; dry needling tends to be single area focused. Both techniques target muscle pain, tight muscle bands and trigger points. These techniques can create short term discomfort.

Acupuncture is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non invasive therapies available for muscular complaints and relaxation. Although it has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risk for acupuncture is slight bleeding, bruising and discomfort/pain on insertion or removal of the needles. You may feel immediate relief, may feel some soreness or aching during or after the treatment or no pain at all as Nicolette tends to work homoeopathically meaning a lower dose sometimes has greater effect.

The treatment is tailored to factor all physical, mental and emotional effects on the soft tissue concern not just the spot itself. For example if alignment of the soft tissue in the low back is affecting the soft tissue tension in the shoulder we will treat both areas.

Nicolette will consider the whole body mechanics while needling. She does not treat systemic conditions unless they are soft tissue and joint related.

The sessions start with a full body massage and assessment to check biomechanics. Initial bookings are a 60 min or longer massage therapy/acupuncture combination. Please note that the acupuncture/dry needling request is charged under Registered Massage Therapy services.

If you wish to use health benefits for acupuncture you will need to seek care with a registered acupuncturist in the area.
